Bright Eyes Drops for cataracts & floaters
Q. Will the Bright Eye drops help steroid induced cataracts? Also when I tried previously I gave up because of extreme stinging. Is this harmful? Many thanks, Philippa.

A. Yes Bright Eyes works with steroid induced cataracts... but if you are still taking the steroids you will need to use the drops a lot more often than somebody who isn't on steroid drugs. Apply one drop into each eye hourly throughout the day; 8, 9, 10 times a day will be ideal. The initial stinging sensation should only last for about 1 minute - everyone's pain thresholds are different and most people say they don't really feel much discomfort at all, right the way through to a very small percentage of people who say that they feel them stinging a lot. It's not harmful though and is caused by the drops passing through the cornea of the eye into the aqueous humour below where the lens is located.

Q. Will the Bright Eyes Drops have any measureble affect if used after failed cataract surgery?

A. Unfortunately there are approximately 1% of people who are left blind in one eye when their cataract operation fails. The Doctors then won't operate on the one still remaining good eye and so then our Bright Eyes eye drops are the only option left to treat and save their eyesight in their other eye. Without the drops they would eventually end up being completely blind.

Currently, once someone has been blinded in one eye like this, there is unfortunately nothing more than can be done to save their sight in that eye. That is the biggest risk and danger of undergoing invasive cataracts surgery.

Q. I have been wearing glasses from the age of 8, probably due to watching the TV too close as a child all day, every day. How can I use these drops per day to improve my vision?

A. Yes, lots of people have reported they no longer need their glasses for reading anymore. It is best to use the Ethos Elan Vital powder supplement as well as the eye drops in that case as that works from the inside out and the drops from the outside in. Re recommend applying the drops once every hour throughout the day so ten times is ideal. You will also need to also spend time with your glasses off as over the years of wearing them your eyes get trained into focusing with them on. So just like any exercise you need to retrain them during the treatment so they gradually get used to not needing them anymore. You should gradually find that that you can spend longer and longer without wearing them and your vision will gradually improve without having them on until ultimately you should no longer need them. The average time to achieve this is usually about 3 months but you should already start to see some improvements after the first month.

It is also recommended to spend time each day exercising your eyes without your glasses on by focusing on something close to you for 20 seconds and then something further away, like the corner of the room that you are in, for 20 seconds, and then something close to you again and so on. Do this for five minutes at least three or four times a day and it effectively exercises your eye muscles and gets them used to focusing properly again without the effects of you glasses.

Q. What effect, if any, does your product have on floaters and other vitreous opacities?

A. Glycation plays a serious role in the breakdown of the structure of the vitreous fluid within the eye known as the aqueous humour. This is the Jell-O-like material that fills the inside of the eyeball. This breakdown leads to the gradual shrinking and liquefaction (syneresis) of the vitreous gel, so that by the time the average person is in his or her nineties, nearly half of the vitreous gel has degenerated into an unstructured goo.

Syneresis ultimately leads to tiny 'cave-ins', in which the vitreous gel collapses away from the retina. These micro-collapses often underlie 'floaters' and light flashes, and they can ultimately cause the retina's sensory and pigment layers to tear apart (known as retinal detachment), causing devastating damage to the vision. On top of this, new evidence has emerged to suggest that syneresis is also a major contributing factor to the formation of nuclear cataracts. So test-tube studies have shown that Carnosine can prevent early glycation products from degrading the hyaluronan fluid of the vitreous gel, and animal studies have shown that injected Carnosine protects the lens of the eye from toxic lipid peroxide products in the vitreous gel, which reinforce the idea that the application of a topical Carnosine supplement solution in the form of eye drops might very well provide a powerful defense against these deleterious processes that age our eyes.

By applying Ethos Bright Eyes Drops daily into each eye they help to protect the eyes against degenerative eye diseases whilst also helping to rejuvenate and maintain the vitreous gel in good condition. This will help to reduce the problems with any existing floaters whilst also helping to protect the eye against any new floaters from forming.

Q. Can you tell me how many boxes of drops I should order and what is the usual time taken to see results?

A. The average recommended course of treatment is 6 boxes - primary early stage cataracts can take less than this, and more mature cataract can take more than 6 boxes, but that is the average. For this reason we offer the heavily discounted 6 packs to try and encourage people to opt for the full course of treatment from the outset which then gives them the very best chances of seeing great results.

Previously it was recommended to apply just one or two drops a day into each eye being treated and 6 boxes would then last approximately 6 months. But after eight years of studying who got the best results we now recommend applying the drops hourly throughout the day; 8, 9, 10 times a day is ideal and, at this rate of application, it effectively reduces the complete course down to just 6 weeks.

Q. I have had RK surgery on both eyes, LASIK on one eye, and cataract surgery on both eyes to remove the damaged lenses and replace them with insertable "plastic" lenses. Are there any contraindications for using Bright Eyes drops under these particular circumstances, i.e. will the drops have any adverse effect on the inserted lenses?

A. No, there are no known contraindications or adverse effects using Bright Eyes drops after surgery or after new replacement intraocular lenses have been implanted. In fact it is advisable to use Bright Eyes drops after any eye surgery as they help to speed up the natural healing process and help repair the damage. They also help against a secondary cataract after surgery from forming.

 Cataract Eye Drops

Q. Peter bright eyes works on both animals and humans. Are the results similar? I was wondering does bright eyes work better on animals than humans or does bright eyes work better on humans than animals. Is there a difference between the eyes of animals as compared to the eyes of humans? Are they similar? Do you know?

A. The drops were originally developed for humans but as animals eyes are anatomically almost identical they work just as well with humans and animals and in the States we sell almost half as many for pets as we do for humans.

Differing results are only really down to end user compliance... Someone who really loves their pet can religiously apply the drops exactly every hour throughout the day whereas humans far too often forget to put the drops in their own eyes and, because of this, often the results in pets can be better... but the only reason is that they use them exactly as instructed. If a human and an animal with the exact same severity of cataracts were both treated and had the drops applied to both of them at exactly the same times then the results would be exactly the same too.

Q. Hello, I just wanted to tell you that I have started using the drops 9, 10 times a day; if I may ask when can I expect to see some difference?

A. It varies from person to person and on the severity of the cataracts... Some people start to notice gradual improvements after the first couple of weeks whereas others don't seem to notice anything until much further into the treatment and then see a much more dramatic change.

Q. I have cataracts and epiretinal membrane on my two eyes. The ph of of your drop is more acidic than eyes. Could that be problem for retina?

A. The slight acidity is part of the delivery mechanism of the eye drops so that the drops penetrate the cornea and deliver the NAC into the aqueous humour below. If the drops were the same pH as tears they would then just sit on the surface of the eyeball and eventually be washed away. This is a standard type of delivery mechanism for topical eye drops and will not harm the eye or the retina in any way.

Q. What are the side affects Ethos Bright Eye Drops??? I have glaucoma and have had Lumigan prescribe by my doctor but it gives me dark circles under my eyes and the eyes and skin look tired all the time.

A. Brights Eyes drops are not a drug and so there are no adverse side-effects like the ones associated with most drugs. They help to reduce elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) levels in glaucoma sufferers and help to repair damage at a cellular level within the eye. As their name suggests, they also help to keep the eyes looking healthy, clear, bright and sparkling.

Q. Can I suggest manufacturing drops in a mores viscous medium so that they stay in the eye longer. I have to hold my dog Butterscotch for 5 mins otherwise the drops roll right out of she shakes her head and they go flying out. A thicker solution would help coat the eye better.

A. Unfortunately the drops need to be of a thin viscosity as it's part of the delivery mechanism... They need to soak into the eye and not coat the surface as the lens with the cataracts is inside the eye itself. If we made them more viscous they then wouldn't pass through the cornea of the eye to get to the lens inside of the eye. One of our competitors raised the pH of their copy-cat product to the same pH as human tears to stop the slight stinging sensation that some people notice ...but little did they know that this also negated the delivery mechanism so their drops sit on the surface of the eye and don't penetrate the cornea so their drops cannot possibly work now.
